November 25 through December 27, 2011:
The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents: A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker!
By Mark-Brian Sonna
Are you tired of the typical Holiday shows? Come check ours out! The women of the Beulaville Baptist Book Club are in dire straits financially, and as a last ditch attempt to save their book club they decide to do a fundraiser and hire the Beaumont Ballet to perform Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”. Madge’s Piña Colada Casserole unfortunately sickens the entire cast with food poisoning and they are unable to perform. Luckily, there is another dance troop in town. It seems the Velvet Kittens Burlesque Dancers are stuck in Beulaville because their van broke down on their way to New Orleans. Madge has never heard of Burlesque, or as she pronounces it “Bur-less-Q”, and in an act of necessity hires the dance troupe to do “The Nutcracker”. The end result? The most original, unusual, and comical Nutcracker you have ever seen!

"That's Jojo and Jill dressed up as some mighty purty trees".

The show will be presented at the Stone Cottage Theatre, 15650 Addison Road, Addison TX 75001, 214-477-4942.

The play is directed by Charles Ballinger, based on an concept by Jana Edele, and written by Mark-Brian Sonna.  Choreography is by Jana Edele and Mark-Brian Sonna with sets and costumes by Larry E. Groseclose.

You may wonder if this appropriate for kids.  There is no nudity or stripping in the show, but it is Burlesque so there is bump and grind dancing.  The humor is very vaudvillian, with lots of bad puns, jokes about passing gas and other body parts.  One of the character's name is Dick, and every conceivable pun is explored.  The F-bomb is used sporadically in the script, but to comic effect.  If there were no F-bombs this show would be rated PG-13 or PG. In film, if it is used more then once then the film gets an R rating, hence why we are rating this show R.

This production is brought to you by the twisted team that brought you such devlish delights as "Kiss the Boys", "Dream Cafe", and "A New Drama" just to name a few of the more recent doo-dads of stage entertainmet.  This production team operates under the name of MBS Productions.  Their weird logo is below and if you click on it you'll be taken to their cool site which oddly enough looks similar to this site:
