I have a world of life experience from which to draw as I artfully create each character I portray on stage. Although coming into acting later in life, my talent has been acknowledged as natural and astounding. Having the ease and assurance of an actor who has performed for years allows me to morph easily into the most amazing multitude of characters...a character actor personified.
Never one to shy away from a challenge is what brought me to the world of acting when my niece and stand-up comedian, Paula Coco, wrote a hilarious two-woman comedy, Nipples To The Wind. Paula called me one day and said, "I'm writing this play and you and I are going to perform in it." My response was, "Okay, I guess I'll have to learn how to act now." And, the rest is history. That one phone call released an exploding NOVA into the acting world.
For two years I’ve portrayed seven different characters in the nationally touring play, Nipples To The Wind, and more recently I played three characters in HA!, a comedy by Rich Orloff, at the Dallas Hub Theater in Dallas, a Shane-Arts production.
I have only seen The Nutcracker on television, and only parts of it at that. I am not a fan of ballet although I can appreciate the physical grace and strength required. I have always been a fan of comedy and, therefore, gravitate to performances that have that aspect. Ballet and opera – not so much. Now, a Burlesque Nutcracker? ...that’s a whole new ballgame!
